The second edition of British Documentary kicks off October 3^rd with a collection of ten documentaries. The British Documentary project was initiated by the British Council Romania in the frame of the “New Work New Audiences” program and aims at presenting the Romanian audience with the best of contemporary British documentaries, awarded by the Grierson Film Festival in the UK.

The word epic is bandied around a lot these days. Truly epic films are rare; in today’s world few viewers have the time or inclination to devote over three hours to watching a movie. But Doctor Zhivago, given a brief run at Cinema Eforie in honor of the actor Klaus Kinski, has retained its huge popularity despite its sprawling construction.

Some ten years ago the British invented a new social entity, the ‘gastro pub’. Contrary to cynical expectations, this new concept did not invite you to endure the agony of Gastroenteritis;

British singer Elvis Costello will give his first concert in Romania on November 3^rd. The concert will take place at Sala Palatului. The  concert is part of the artist’s European tour through Athens, Vienna, Istanbul, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Oslo, Stockholm and Brussels.

The current edition of the George Enescu Festival impressed Martin Harris, the UK Ambassador in Romania. Harris praised the British flavor of this year's edition, together with the quality and commitment of the audience, who attended late-night concerts. The blog article can be consulted below.

Balkans music festival Balkanik takes place September 23 and 24 in Bucharest at Uranus garden. According to the organizers, this is the first event in Romania entirely dedicated to the Balkans’ music and values.

The sixth edition of eXplore dance festival, the Bucharest International Contemporary Dance and Performance Festival, will take place this year from October 1st-16th, 2011.
On the occasion, several theatres and museums of Bucharest, will host a wide rage of dance activities.

The Bucharest Opera house will host on September 28 a live broadcast of the opera Faust from the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. The HD satellite transmission of Charles Gounod's Faust will start at 21.00. Access is allowed until 20.45. The price of a ticket is RON 45.

The event will push the scheduled Artmark yearly Romanian impressionism and post impressionism art bid to Thursday September 29.

The next three days include a representation of the Romanian Youth Orchestra, part of the "Great Orchestras of the World" series. Music lovers will also be delighted by the recitals and chamber music evenings, with representations from Kremarata Baltika and Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir. The Natural History museum Grigore Antipa in Bucharest has attracted 5706 visitors in its first re-opening weekend. The museum had been closed for the past two and a half years for renovation works.
