Mega Image takes national network to 108 stores after opening two more supermarkets
Mega Image has opened two more supermarkets this week. The first unit is located in the Upground shopping center in Bucharest on Glucozei Blvd and it covers 570sqm. The second outlet was opened in Mihailesti, near the capital and has a 670 sqm surface.

Members of the European Parliament elected Martin Schulz to be the new EP president with 378 votes in favor out of 670 cast. The 56-year old German MEP will lead the parliament for two and a half years, replacing outgoing President Jerzy Buzek.

Car manufacturer Dacia sold 30,867 units on the Romanian market in 2011, decreasing year-on-year by 16 percent. Globally, sales decreased y/y by 1.5 percent to 343,233 units.

Kandia Dulce announces management changes after Supreme Chocolat takeover
Kandia Dulce, the second player on the Romanian chocolate market has announced that it has completed the acquisition of competitor Supreme Chocolat, the third largest player. The merger will consolidate Kandia’s position on the market by “creating an important Romanian competitor that will be active in chocolate and sugar confectionery as well as biscuits,” said company representatives.
